What software is the vendor using to telnet into the HP3000?

Which specific characters aren't being echoed?

Is the telnet session an interactive colon-prompt terminal session, or is it
just telnetting directly into a server process listening port?

Is the HP3000 running a POSIX application or a traditional MPE one?
