As other people pointed out, <escape>@   (two characters, total)

Note that some termulators don't implement this!

I tried: WRQ Reflection...worked fine
         AICS QCTerm ...  worked fine
         HP's hpterm (HP-UX) ... failed

The last is a concern...if any of your users are connecting from an HP-UX
machine using X-Windows, they're probably running hpterm.
