Are you using MPE 6.0?

We had the similar problems (FORMSPEC would hang) with the out-of-the-box
MPE/iX 6.0. Check the fast formsfile 'FRMSPCFF.PUB.SYS'. The original
formsfile was wrong. The EOF should be 308. The 'FRMSPCFF.PUB.SYS' that
was sent with 6.0 was missing a field. We only had the problem when we
pressed enter on the first Form Maintenance screen. I was able to fix this
with the VPLJXG3B patch. I assume the fix is also in the latest VPLUS
patch available for 6.0.

Our before and after version of FORMSPEC was B.06.07.

BTW, we used the FRMSPCFF.PUB.SYS from MPE 5.5 pp 4 until we got the patch.
It appears to be the same file.

Hope this helps,
