If you're using VT-MGR to do shell stuff, some of the slowness can be attributed
to SR 5003435362.

Switch to telnet (or serial) and you'll have much better performance when
running huge scripts (i.e. Perl Configure, etc).

The remaining slowness is just due to fork(), and there's nothing you can do
about that, other than whining and hoping that HP is listening.  ;-)
