>I would like to know how many sites are actively using Transact.

We have a number of CGI scripts that use Transact/iX to display MPE
patch information from a TurboIMAGE database to web browsers. While
this is not a large application, it might probably be sufficent to
call me and a number of colleagues "active users" :-)

Coding the database retrievals in Transact is/was much more convenient
than doing the same in COBOL or -gulp- C, as you do not have to build
all those record declarations for item buffers and the like. Just let
Transact examine the dictionary for the gory details. Quite handy. And
much more readable code than -shudder- RPG, for example ;-)

Lars.

PS: Have also played with Java and JDBC recently, but direct access to
the TurboIMAGE data has been much faster than relational access through
IMAGE/SQL for _certain_types_ of queries.
