Sorry, the above is wrong:   Supertool, QueryCalc, and any
number of custom NM programs will on the average beat the
pants off any PC query method.  note I did NOT say that ODBC
performance cannot be pretty good in some cases;  we run
production 32-bit ODBC reports and so far performance is
acceptable to pretty good.  But especially host-based tools and
report writers like the above that use MR NOBUF access will
almost always have a performance advantage over ODBC that
ranges up to order-of-magnitude and then some....

With the advent of TurboIMAGE intrinsic B-Trees, even good old
IMAGE QUERY can do some pretty slick selects;  use it all the
time.....
