Indeed, DTC stands for DITRIBUTED TERMINAL CONTROLLER.

You van use them on HP 3000, without any additionnal software, and on the HP 9000 series with DTC Manager/UX.
Different types you have:
        DTC 48
        DTC 16 bot have dissapearde from the PCL but still working
        DTC 72 has 3 modules of 24 ports (either RJ45 or 25 pin)
        DTC 16/ix was dedicated for HP3000
        DTC 16 MX/RX can be used on HP3000 and on HP9000.
The DTC needs a system or an OPENVIEW STATION to download his configuration.
In some models you can put a TAC card ( Telnet Access Card) to manage you inbound Telnet
connectyions without losing to much performance.
