Obviously there are countless approaches. Extract and convert, database
middleware (ODBC, JDBC)... Premier Software utilizes process-centric
middleware, You can get a decent overview (of the middleware itself) at
http://www.premiersoft.com/toolset/toolkit/leg.html.

Although our technology can be used, rather quickly, to grab Image data and
dynamically format it into html, the strength is in the ability to
"encapsulate" and "de-couple" technologies. This is the goal of middleware
in general, and is best achieve by middleware which is not oriented toward
one particular technology type, like Image. With Premier's technology you
can connect any platform-language combination with any other.

Premier's technology is for customers who require multi-server platform (NT,
UNIX, MPE, AS/400), multi-client platforms (WWW, Win32, MPE, UNIX), and
require scalability in the ranges of 1000's of concurrent clients.

A recent online overview, from the HP Advisor,
