UTC TENNIS PLAYER EARNS SOUTHERN CONFERENCE
GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
ASHEVILLE, N.C.---Chattanooga senior Ivan Poullaos, a member of UTC’s
men’s tennis team, has been awarded the Dave Hart Scholarship by the Southern
Conference, league officials announced Wednesday.
The Dave Hart Scholarship is for student-athletes to continue their
studies on the
graduate school level. It is named in honor of the former Commissioner of
the Southern
Conference.
Each scholarship is worth $2000 and is awarded on criteria that encompasses
athletic, academic and leadership skills.
Poullaos was a member of the Mocs’ 1998 Southern Conference tennis
championship team and this year’s runnerup squad. The Harare, Zimbabwe,
native was
awarded UTC’s Murray Raney Scholarship last year, given to the outstanding
Chemistry
major and earned UTC’s Dale Maye Award for the senior varsity
student-athlete with the
highest academic average.
The six-time member of the Dean’s List plans on using his scholarship to
study
law.
