If you look in the SPL (System Programming Language) Reference Manual on
pages 2-1 thru 2-4 you will find the explanation of the HP real and Longreal
storage. That is of course the 'Classic HP' system. And if you look at
Precision Architecture and Instruction Reference Manual on pages 2-5 and 6-7
thru 6-8 you will find the format of the new floating point storage.
ANSI/IEEE 754-1985. Hope this helps.
