After copying some files, directories and subdirectories to this share from my PC with the Explorer, I get the problem, that I can't remove the directories and subdirectories. I tried it on the posix shell with the rm -r command as manager.sys but permissions are denied. What is the reason? Can anyone help me? [...]46_26Apr199913:47: [log in to unmask] |

If by "script files" you mean the MPE equivalent "command files"...the
answer is yes - plenty!
1. With UDC files, there is a substantial amount of overhead at logon.
Command files have no associated overhead other than the path being
searched when a command file is requested.
2. UDC's have multiple options (OPTION LOGON, NOBREAK, etc.) which are
not available to command files.
3. UDC's can be set (must be set?) at any of three levels. However,
command files can be called / executed by anyone who has the appropriate
access.
4. UDC's have to be set or unset in order to be changed. Command files
can simply be modified (provided no one is accessing them at the time).
IMHO, command files add a great deal of flexibility, with relatively
little overhead. The only drawback is security, but a properly
constructed command file can correct any associated security risks.
The ONLY drawbacks that I have to using command files are the OPTIONS
and the length lacks the ability to be descriptive. I only use UDC'S
when I absolutely must control the command via one of these options or
when an 8 character file name is not descriptive enough.
