Eventually I succumbed to MPE and generated my filenames with unique names, 8
chars long
with "W" as the first character.

You've got to try this stuff though, haven't you <g>

I already found the idea of HFS files in the TEMP domain somewhat
-ahem- exotic as the Posix world does not have an idea about anything
else but PERM files...

Have you considered using an MPE filename in the TEMP domain and
utilizing a group and account name for additional digits? ;-)
