Yes, running Apache 1.3.3 on a production machine is "safe" in the sense that
it shouldn't crash your machine or reformat your disks. ;-)
But you don't want to be running production web applications on 1.3.3, because
of a transient bug the causes intermittent security errors when the web server
tries to access files requested by the browser (the POSIX signals/siglongjmp
problem).
I hope to test HP's fix for this "soon".
