Hi Camille,
Simply do a listf @.hpenv.sys,2
This will show you many env files (called PENV in the filecode field).
There are generally two kinds, portrait and landscape. The portrait files
are 8.5 x 11 inches and looks like a letter's orientation. The landscape
is 11 x 8.5 and is oriented like a landscape painting, hence the name.
Some of the ordinary env files for landscape are called land@ and the ones
for portrait often are [log in to unmask] Particular printers such as HP2680A , HP2688A
have 80A or 88A as part of the envfile name.
Others start out pica or elite which indicates the font.
If there is a '2' or '4' in the name it means it prints 2 pages per physical
page, or 4 pages per physical page.
For example:
LP884L.hpenv.sys = an env file that prints 4 pages on each page of a HP2688
printer using landscape mode.
PORT2.hpenv.sys = an env file that prints two portrait oriented pages per
page.
etc.
To create your own env file read the section in the MPE/XL manual about
FDEVICECONTROL to start. Then write a program with these intrinsics to
select your printer's env configuration. Keep the file as an env or penv file.
and use them in the ENV= parameter on File command and in FOPEN on the device
specification.
I hope this helps
