Jim,

This could be a symptom of a DTC on your network with no SQE heartbeat
enabled on the transceiver. The 3000 is logging the DTC events (at a rate of
30+ I/Os per second.) In Glance go to the process detail screen for the
heaviest disc consumer and press the Open Files softkey. The files that the
process has open, or the content within the files should indicate which
DTC(s) you need to look at.

If this is the case then rebooting will not have solved the problem either.
You must either enable SQE on the transceiver or replace it with a
transceiver that supports SQE.
