If your systems are *that* close to being overloaded, then it's high time to
upgrade.  You really don't think there is at least this much CPU to be found
in tuning your application code, disks, database administration, etc.?

I think your letting a small point of a much larger picture distort your view
of the situation.  Think of all those Powerhouse shops that worry from one
release of PH to the next how performance will be on the same hardware and
same application.  A new release of MPE may affect your performance, too,
with changes having to do with a great number of things - even just how much
disk space the system uses. If your applications are at that point in the
power curve, where you have to worry about such affects, upgrading is the
practical and business-sensible thing to do.

BTW, surely you and your VP understand that if it was Unix, you'd never even
bother thinking about finding a few percentage points - you would have *had*
to upgrade already.

HP and all operating system vendors have to make optimization choices where
they make the most business sense. CSY is *far* more customer focused and
responsive than any other O.S. vendor, aside from open source systems like
Linux.
