  It's difficult to give suggestions not knowing more about your situation, but
one option might be to have the 3000 put out a comma-quote-delimited file and
use dBase to import the file before turning the C program loose on it.  If you
have SuperTool, take a glance at the STExport documentation wrt doing this.
