latest on pjl and hp3000 network printing

Now that hp is relieving itself of the test and medial products will we
see a better integration with the 3000s and the LaserJet's?
Other than ignoring the pjl codes what can a manager do about the
network printing?
Any hope for a lpd/lps native spooler?
It seems that the printers and the 3000 have typically been about 3
years behind.
