I have successfully installed and configured a demo of Volano's java chat server on my 979/200 (thanks Gavin for suggesting -nojit).  I am in the chat room now and will stay there for the next half hour or so if anyone wants to come check it out.  The demo is restricted to only 5 chatters at a time.  The address is:
