Dear Listers

Maybe someone of the POWERHOUSE gurus on this list can help me.

We changed some of PH internal date fields to ZDATE. e.g. ELEMENT dat SIZE
8 DATATYPE ZDATE SIZE 6, to be able to store century included dates in a 6
byte field.

As 20000101 is represented as A00101 (in my opinion a character field), I
exepected to be forced to change to physical database structure from lets
say ZONED 6 to CHAR 6 to be able to hold this data.

But my tests showed the following:

1) POWERHOUSE stores A00101 into a database field of type ZONED 6 as well
as CHAR 6

2) QUERY on the other hand complains, that this value is non numeric, if
you try to add this value "by hand" (something I exected to happen)

Does anyone have an explanation for this??

TIA,
Friedrich
