The Interdisciplinary Ethics Lecture Series continues...
*****************************************************************
Dr. Timothy Costelloe (Emory University)
on
"What does Morality have to do with Aesthetics?"
Wednesday, March 10 2:00 p.m.
Flag Room, Guerry Center
*****************************************************************
Dr. Costelloe’s lecture will concern the relationship between aesthetics
and morality which greatly informed the 18th century tradition of moral
thought. He will also discuss the impact these ideas had upon
philosophical thought in the succeeding centuries.
His paper appeals directly to those students and faculty concerned with
the relationship between beauty – the world of the senses – and the
creation of a moral understanding.
We strongly encourage students especially from the Fine Arts, Philosophy,
and English departments to attend as Dr. Costelloe’s lecture will explore
the language and ideas which greatly influenced 18th century art, thinking,
and literature.
