SUBJECT: Medical Treatment for On-the-Job- Injuries
DATE: March 15, 1999
We have recently had several cases in which an employee injured at work
went for treatment to a medical facility not on the list of health care
providers approved for Workers' Compensation. In order for Workers'
Compensation benefits to be paid by the State of Tennessee, employees who
incur job related injuries or illnesses must go to the medical providers
(physicians and hospitals) that are listed in the State Workers'
Compensation Network.
If medical attention is needed for a work-related injury, the injured
employee can contact Personnel Services (ext. 4452) to obtain the current
list of physicians and facilities in the State Workers' Compensation
Provider Network.
For emergency medical treatment or for medical attention after 5:00 PM, the
injured employee can go to the Emergency Room at Erlanger Hospital or
Parkridge Hospital. Erlanger Quickcare on Gunbarrel Road and Physician's
Care in Hixson or East Ridge are also available. Memorial Hospital is not
on the list of facilities in the Workers' Compensation network.
Any questions regarding Workers' Compensation procedures may be directed to
Kathy Bonham (phone x4452, email [log in to unmask]) or Keith Leamon
(phone x4578, email [log in to unmask]).
