Upgrading from MPE V on a Series III to MPE/XL (as it was known back in
those days) was a two-step process for us. We first migrated to a Micro/XE
"Mighty Mouse", ran on that for a week or two, then moved over to a 950.
The bottom line was that we could have done the whole conversion standing
on our heads -- it was that easy. When I left for colder climes last year,
I remember some code written way back in 1980 still running without a hitch
on MPE/iX 4.0.

Wouldn't it be nice if Micro$oft's "upward compatibility" had matched that
record!!
