Yes, it also utilizes the measurement interface. And as has been previously
noted, it may/can account for a larger amount of overhead than what may be
obvious. I also believe in the act of collecting data, some of the cost in
recording the information is 'charged'/incurred by the executing process
itself
and not a separate 'MI' process. This is not obvious when monitoring
processes using the MI.
