UTC Offers International Business Issues Course in Ireland May 17-June 1

An International Business Issues course offered by UTC and the
Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) will be taught in Ireland this
summer from May 17-June 1.
Dr. Marilyn Helms, professor of management, will lead the class in
exploring managerial differences and business techniques involved in
foreign cultures coupled with the challenges of U.S.-Ireland joint
ventures. The course includes company visits and plant tours, guest
speakers, actual case studies and individual research.
"CCSA is arranging our tours based on my requests to include
manufacturing, service, government, small business, and civic
establishments. We have also asked for presentations by American
expatriates in Ireland," says Helms.
The program includes visits to both Dublin and Galway, excursions
to the Aran Islands, Boyne Valley, and Wicklow County. Attractions include
historical and literary sites, theatres, museums, shopping and world-class
golf courses over the two-week period. Weekends and free-time may be used
for optional travel and meeting other students from American universities
in the program and students from Ireland.
The class is available for both graduate and undergraduate credit
for UTC students. Regular tuition fees apply to UTC students and financial
aid is available. The course is also available to community members and
others who may enroll on a non-credit basis with no tuition fees.
Cost of the trip is $2,195 and includes round-trip airfare from
Atlanta, airport transfers, accommodations, a Dublin bus/city rail pass,
some additional meals, program visits, and scheduled group excursions.
