Dr. Lucien Ellington, in collaboration with the University of Arkansas at
Little Rock, recently received a grant from the United States-Japan
Foundation. A portion of the grant will come to UTC to support Dr.
Ellington's work on the "Southern Urban Japan-in-the-Schools project -- an
educational program for K-12 teachers that promotes stronger ties between
the US and Japan.

As codirector of the project, Professor Ellington is responsible for
teaching a 50 hour course on Japan and for serving as one of two leaders in
a seventeen day teacher study tour of Japan in June 1999.

Congratulations to Dr. Ellington on this honor!
