Six local student-athletes, including quarterback Justin Barnes of Red Bank
and receiver/defensive back Ben Gordon of Dalton, Ga., signed national
letters of intent Wednesday to play football at UTC. Wednesday was the
first day student-athletes could sign letters of intent for their chosen
college or university.

Of the Mocs' 25 signees, six were from the state of Tennessee and six were
local products. Also staying close to home were Meigs County's Wes Greene,
Brainerd's Jason Jackson, Nashville Maplewood's Leonard Mays, Rhea County's
Marcus Pendergrass and Cleveland's Cortez Rankin.

Nine states were represented in the Mocs' signing class including Alabama,
California, Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina and
Virginia.
