HELP!

I have been having problems with a DDS-1 tape drive (c1503b) for a week now.
I have even swapped the drive with a different one in case it was the tape
drive giving the problem.

Background: HP928 MPE/iX 5.5 pp6 with 2 internal HD (1,2) and a DDS-2 drive
(7), besides the DDS-1 (8). Ldev 8 worked for about 10-15 tapes before the
problems started. LDev 8 shows up in ode mapper.

I put a tape into the ldev 8 and it will never mount. The only messages
that show up are:

ldev 8 not ready (or)
ldev 8 I/O error ignored during AVR I/O status %74

Ldev 7 also never says mounted until after you do a reply (it did it right
for the first 3 weeks).

I have made DTC config changes, but that is the only system change that I
can remember making in the past 2 weeks. Hard to believe I could have 2 bad
tape drives in a row. Any ideas of what I can do?
