You will need at least: C.55.01 (5.5 Express#1) or C.50.06 + MPEJXC9 +
ODIJXH8 for a DDS-3 drive.
I would look in IODFAULT.PUB.SYS for any of the following ID's:
{************** DDS-3 ******************}
{-------- Embedded Mech --------}
HPC1537A TAPE 24 7 0128 SCSI_TAPE_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER 0010
&
JOB+DATA+INPUT+OUTPUT+AUTOREPLY NONE TAPE 0 DA 0 FALSE FALSE
A3542A TAPE 24 7 0128 SCSI_TAPE_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER 0010
&
JOB+DATA+INPUT+OUTPUT+AUTOREPLY NONE TAPE 0 DA 0 FALSE FALSE
{-------- Stand Alone Mech --------}
HPC2984A TAPE 24 7 0128 SCSI_TAPE_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER 0010
&
JOB+DATA+INPUT+OUTPUT+AUTOREPLY NONE TAPE 0 DA 0 FALSE FALSE
{-------- Jamaica Version --------}
A3640A TAPE 24 7 0128 SCSI_TAPE_DM LOGICAL_DEVICE_MANAGER 0010
&
JOB+DATA+INPUT+OUTPUT+AUTOREPLY NONE TAPE 0 DA 0 FALSE FALSE
I think you will be OK even if you only see the first one as I suspect
even the HASS DDS drive module will ID itself as HPC1537A.
At the ISL prompt after powering on, enter ODE and then enter RUN MAPPER
to make sure you can see the newly installed drives.

Subject: HP DDS-3 Sysgen ID Information
I am installing 4 new DDS-3 dats this weekend and wondered if someone
can give
me the HP-ID information in these drives for sysgen. The product number
of the
drives are A3640A and the HP CE has asked that I verify the current
patches are
loaded. I am not sure how that is done and if anyone has some thoughts
on that
I would be very interested.
Thanks for the help.
