We just had the feed roller mechanism on our Apple LaserWriter II
replaced; the LW II uses the same engine as the LJ II. It was $182 for an
on-site repair. The symptom is the same as the original poster's, paper
jams on the input. The D roller that's supposed to grab paper from the
tray eventually gets worn down so that the sharp trailing edge of the D
is rounded. This results in pick failures.
As for whether it was worth the repair, I don't know of anywhere I can
buy a high-quality network-ready PostScript laser printer for $182. The
LaserWriter serves our PC network as well as our Macs.
