During January the Department of Philosophy and Religion will be
interviewing three candidates on campus for a tenure-track position in
Asian religions. Each will be making a public presentation as part of the
interview, and the Department would like to invite colleagues who are
interested in the study of Asia to attend.
The first presentation will be given this Friday, January 15, at 2:00 pm in
Holt 101 by Sushil Mittal. Dr. Mittal received the Ph.D. in Anthropology
from the University of Montreal in 1998. He is a native of Canada and has
lived in India for about ten years. His doctoral dissertation is concerned
with religion and social groupings in a north Indian village. He is the
founding editor of the International Journal of Hindu Studies and is
editing textbooks on Hinduism and India. This year he is teaching at the
University of Florida.
