Oooh!  This IS a neat idea. It amounts to a 'redefines' like capability over
a set of names,
all of which reference the same underlying variable. Could be implemented -
at first - via a
set of scripts, but how much neater to see such a concept built in to the OS.

Now, what other entities (trying like heck to avoid the "O" word!) could
this be useful for....
