Last Friday I brought up a Catalyst 5500 as a backbone switch and
router. From the HP3000 I'm having a problem telneting to the
central site's Ethernet VLAN IP address configured on the 5500's
router module. I get the following series of error messages:

    :telnet.arpa.sys <VLAN IP address>
    Telnet Client [A5500000] (C) Hewlett-Packard Co. 1994
    Trying...
    Connected to <VLAN IP address>.

The WAN is a simple Star topology with 17 remote sites. I can telnet
from the HP3000 to any of the remote Cisco 2503 routers that are
connected to the 5500. I can also telnet to the 5500's VLAN address
using other Telnet clients (e.g., WRQ Reflection, Linux, Cisco).

I've tried a number of different settings in the config for the
5500's TTY Lines with the same result. Has anyone else experienced
this? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Happy Holidays,
