Paul,

1) You can use vt3k on your HP9000 to open a session on the HP3000.

   vt3k 192.53.21.5
To suspend to VT3K command mode press 'break' 3 times in a 1 second
period.

   [Connection Terminated (0)]
   /home/pf>

The syntax is: vt3k hostname/IP address. One annoying thing about
vt3k is that it can't be suspended to temporarily return to your
HP9000
   prompt.

2) You can also establish a telnet connection to your HP3000 like this:

  telnet
  telnet> set escape ^C
  escape character is '^C'.
  telnet> open 192.53.21.5
  Trying...
  Connected to 192.53.21.5.
  Escape character is '^C'.
  Local flow control off

  Connection closed by foreign host.

I think that the latest reproduces as much closely as possible the
behavior
of the DSLINE command between HP3000's.
Also, if you need to make some file transfers between your 9000 and 3000
you can use ftp on both systems.

Regards
