c|net's NEWS.COM reports of a 10-year cross-licensing deal between Intel
and S3.  While S3 gets to use some Intel technologies, the biggest result
(to me) is that Merced avoids a legal challenge.

Recall that S3 purchased the patents from the failed Exponential, Inc.,
which thus serve as the "prior art" for later patents involving Merced.
