Have you tried:
spoolf o@;seleq=[state=delpnd];pri=1;alter
The above was posted in this list looong time ago and it was supposed to
'clear up' situations as the one you describe. My notes say that the above
command 're-catalogs' the spoolfile and it can then be deleted.

Howdy,
Sorry, can't be of much help. We had one of these a year or so ago and
finally scheduled the system
for an IPL on the next weekend. Somewhere during the next few days, with no
help from us, it just
up and disappeared. Mighty puzzling.
