The following is an excerpt from the document YEAR2000 that was sent out
with MM/3000 updates. This document should be in the PUB group of your tools
account:
...
I. A. DATE REPRESENTATIONS IN DATA BASES
=========================================

No changes need to be made to either the data base structure or the
data stored in the data base.

Date fields in the YMD-DATE Customizer data type will continue to
be represented as Image X6 fields.

Years will continue to be stored in the data base as two-digit
values; however the years 2000 to 2049 will be stored a little
     differently for YMD-DATE fields.

        Data Base
Representation The application interprets the year as:
        50-99 1950-1999
        A0-A9 2000-2009
        B0-B9 2010-2019
        C0-C9 2020-2029
        D0-D9 2030-2039
        E0-E9 2040-2049

Only YMD-DATE fields will contain the new date representation.
Other date formats, such as YMD-DATE-DISPLAY, remain unchanged.

This new date format is referred through this document as the "A0"
format. (The previous date format is referred to as the "00"
     format.)

If you had YMD-DATE data with the year 2000 and/or beyond in your
data base before you installed the Year 2000 enhancement, it will
be converted to the "A0" format the next time the record is
     updated.

...
I hope this clears up Jim's question.
