One of our ISV's charges upgrade costs according to the following formula:

Upgrade_Cost = Current_Cost_Of_Software_On_New_Hardware less
               Original_Cost_Of_Softwar_On_Old_Hardware

which ended up costing us $30,000 to move the package from a 922 to a 918.
