We have not had a lot of luck using Telnet to connect to our HP3000.
The sessions hang after about an hour of use and then have to be
aborted.  With NS/VT the sessions hang much less frequently and if they
do drop the user they log themselves out in most cases.  Does anyone
else have a similar experience?

If not using Telnet, and you wish to use NS/VT, then the firewall will
require at least port 1570 open in both directions.  Use IP fitering to
keep
the bad guys out (depending on the firewall software being used).
Telnet
used more in a Unix environment, and becoming more so on the 3000 now
that
it's out there and becoming much more stable, but the majority of the
shops
out there (ourselves included) still use NS/VT, at least for now.
