It's a STORE/RESTORE error, not an MPE error.  According to my (outdated)
LaserROM:

1741         MESSAGE    SENDMAIL TO SYSGEN FROM STORE FAILED. (S/R 1741)




           CAUSE      Internal error occurred during the creation of
                      combined SLT/Store set.

           ACTION     Contact your HP Support Representative.

Is the SENDMAIL daemon running?  If so, shut it down before doing this.  If
it wasn't running, then I guess you should follow the suggested course of
action above.
