Hello Listers,

Well, you heard it here first (I think)

>>> This morning at 9:30am, at a press conference in San Francisco we are
excited to announce that we will be changing the name of the Windows NT 5.0
family of products. The Windows NT 5.0 product line will be called Windows
2000. In order to ensure customers are aware that these products are based
on the Windows NT kernel we will introduce and market the tagline "Built on
NT Technologies". This tagline will help our many customers who know and
understand the value of NT. <<<

There will be four versions:

Windows 2000 Professional (formerly NT 5.0 Workstation)

Windows 2000 Server - up to 2-way SMP

Windows 2000 Advanced Server - up to 4-way SMP plus large physical memories.
Current 8-way SMP configurations can also take advantage of this server.

Windows 2000 Datacenter Server - up to 16-way SMP and up to 64GB Memory
depending on architecture.

There were rumors about this -- now it's official.

Best Regards,
Joe (don't shoot the messenger)
