Cable networks are the same as everything else, only as fast as it's
weakest link. Due to the limited bandwith of the cable infrastructure to
residentials, the cable network's bandwidth will be sucked dry from what
we've heard and read. The upcoming technology will be the ADSL. Anywhere
within 18,000 feet ( 3 miles ) you can attain T1 speeds over regular copper
wire and the modems are coming down in price. It seems though that the ISP'
s will have to take the lead on deployment of this technology since the
Telco industry can't keep up with just POTS installations right now.
