Tracy:
Accounts and groups have to exist on both the system volume set AND the
non-system volume set. For example:
:NEWACCT someacct,manager;PASS=...;CAP=...;ACCESS=...;etc.
:NEWACCT someacct,manager;ONVS=non_system_set_name
(don't enter any other parameters such as ;PASS= ,etc.)
:NEWGROUP somegroup.someacct;CAP=...;ACCESS=...;etc.
:NEWGROUP somegroup.someacct;ONVS=non_system_set_name
(again, no other parameters)
Note that the :NEWUSER command does not have a corresponding entry for the
non-system volume set. MPE keeps the ENTIRE directory entry on the system
volume set MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET. The second :NEWACCT and :NEWGROUP
commands create a more "skeleton" structure on the non-system volume set
itself.
Conversely, when it's time to blow away an account or group, you need to
delete it from BOTH the system volume set and the non-system volume set.
From the School of Hard Knocks: avoid creating a SYS account and, especially,
a PUB.SYS group on a non-system volume set. This has the tendency to HOSE UP
your system and requires a time-consuming INSTALL to correct.
Hope this helps you out!!
