I went ahead and added those and it didn't make any difference. I also
did a NETCONTROL UPDATE=INTERNET;LAN=LOOP (and LAN1) to make sure that
took affect.

Can you explain this a little more. I believe we have everything set up
for full internet domain, but can you explain what you mean by "i.s.o".
I meant "in stead of". As I noticed that your DNS is looking in its host
file "co" which is only part of the host name, I remembered that we had this
kind of problem as well. When I reduced the name to one single word only in
the host file with the IP address of the HP, it worked just fine for me.
This name can even be completely different from anything you have already
set up for your HP3000 in the DNS, proxy, router and HP itself. It's weird,
I know.
We are using unix DNS/bind.
The internet name is "xl3.co.frederick.md.us"
The node.domain.organization name is "XL3.FRED.IDPA"

Just for reference, these are the messages we are getting out of the log
files
shell/iX> cat log.smb
Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host co.
Added interface ip=10.1.8.248 bcast=10.1.15.255 nmask=255.255.240.0
Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host. co
shell/iX> cat log.nmb
09/30/98 10:07:28 netbios nameserver version 1.9.16p9 started
Copyright Andrew Tridgell 1994
Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host co.
Added interface ip=10.1.8.248 bcast=10.1.15.255 nmask=255.255.240.0
Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host.
shell/iX> exit
Again, "co." is the beginning of our domain name which would make me
think something in DNS is screwed up, but I can't find anything wrong
for the life of me.
