Curtis, if cost is a problem for your management, you might want to
look at Whisper Technology's FTP Plus product.  For just $99 you
get a Windows based text editor that can be used for the simple text
editing you describe (command files, etc.)  It uses ftp to retrieve and
save the files so nothing needs to be installed on the HP3000 side.

Check it out at their web site, www.whispertech.com.  You can
download a trial version there.
