Starting with Windows 95 (SR1), which is labelled as Build 950a (right click
My Computer, select Properties), as well as Windows 98, to use the current
version of Samba/iX, you will need to make a change to the registry.

This change permits these versions of Windows to send "clear text" passwords
(as opposed to encrypting them, which was the standard in Builds 950a, 950b
and Build 1998 (Windows 98).

This change is fully explained at http://www.sambaix.com/ and gives
step-by-step instructions for both 9x and NT (the changes are different
between the two).

Version 1.9.18p10, which is almost ready for internal testing, will
alleviate this change, as it will understand the encrypted passwords.
Please check the above site for future announcements as to when it will be
available for downloading. (NOTE: This version will not be supported by
HP --- the supported HP version is the one that is downloadable today, and
will be released on MPE/iX 6.0, which is 1.9.16p9. Support for later
releases are posted at http://www.sambaix.com ).

Best Regards,
Joe
