Many thanks, here a very simple commandfile I "developed" just now:
ECHO
ECHO CONMSG will display the messages which are listed on the
ECHO console during System Startup
ECHO
CONMSG.MPEXL.TELESUP
PRINT CONDUMP
ECHO Will purge the file ...
PURGE CONDUMP;CONFIRM

Subject: Re: Console log
Of course everyone should have a program on their system already
that does this, "CONMSG.MPEXL.TELESUP". Be aware, however, that the
data structure which this file reads is a fixed size and handled in a
circular fashion. The more messages written to it, the greater the
chance that the end of the structure will be reached and the beginning
of the structure will be overwritten. The program notes this if it has
happened. The output of the program does not come to your screen. It
is written to a file in your logon group called "CONDUMP".
There is NO substitute for watching the admittedly voluminous console
messages when restarting a system, especially if it was taken down
due to a problem or if work was done on the system while it was down.
