You must go for Samba/iX!

Please look to all the posts in the newsgroup about this pretty good service ...
or start immediatly by downloading the package from jazz.external.hp.com.

Subject: Help pls: Open a MPE text file direct from Excel97 using ftp

Hi,
I'm trying to make some text files (they are CSVfiles) on my HP3000
available to Excel users on our PC network.
I believe Excel97 should be able to open these files using the File/ Open/
Look In / Internet addresses(FTP).
Does anyone know how to do this ? I can get through to the HP3000 but the
directories/accounts are not displayed correctly nor are they browsable and
I can't see the files. Is there some way I can specify the file in the
Add/Modify FTP address box?
While we're on this.. How do I do an FTP connect to the HP3000 from IE4.0. I
saw the URL syntax somewhere but can't remember where.
Thanks.
Seamus
