system, which showed relatively little performance gain after 56 MBytes.
This was MPE/iX 4.0, so things have probably changed. I'll be doing the same
benchmarks soon under 5.5pp4, so I'll let you know if there's any changes!

We noticed a degradation in performance on a 957 when we went from either
4.0 to 4.5 or 4.5 to 5.0 (I think it was to 5.0) a couple of years ago.
That was when we started to get on the boat of adding as much memory as
possible. The 957 was about ready to get traded up (except we didn't
have the funds), so adding the memory to 768mb made a *major* difference.
I know that you can put more than 768mb in a 957, but that was where we
went to at that time.
