I should have thought of this earlier, but ....

Patch MPEKXB5A was general-released on Aug. 12, 1998.

PowerPatch 5 was released on Aug. 11, which I actually received Aug. 12 and
installed a couple of days later.

Could it be that the MPEKXB5A that is currently on the HP FTP patch site
(ftp://i3107ffs.external.hp.com) is DIFFERENT from the one on powerpatch 5??

Just wondering.
